Theme: Festive Frontend

Celebrate the season with a hackathon focused on building user-friendly interfaces.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned dev, bring your skills and collaborate on fast-paced, festive projects.

Experiment with new ideas, challenge your skills

HTML / CSS / JavaScript only (+use of frontend frameworks)


All times are in BST (Irish/UK time)

Friday, 19th Dec
  • 12:00: Live Kickoff Event - RSVP in advance HERE
  • Teams will be assigned by 13:30 and announced in the Discord.
  • Create your team channel on Discord (via the Hackathon Hub) and connect with your Team.
Saturday, 20th Dec
  • Set up your team page in the Hackathon Hub, project board, workspaces, etc.
  • Design in a scrum master. Discuss and agree on team roles and responsibilities.
  • Define your project scope and objectives.
  • Brainstorm project ideas and decide on your project.
  • Create your project repository (e.g., GitHub) and invite team members.
  • Plan your project, project management, and dividing up of tasks between team members.
  • Recommended first deployment
Sun, 21st Dec - Mon 22nd Dec
  • Each team member dedicates a minimum of 2 hours per day to working in sprints on solo tasks, chatting with, connecting and working together as a team.
  • Continuous deployment.
Tues, 23rd Dec
  • Final touches to project.
  • Update Hackathon App team page (team name, project name, banner, logo, description, etc.).
  • Final deployment.
  • Submit project & add details to team page.
  • 14:00 sharp - Project Submission Deadline - no further commits or changes to projects.
  • Submit a 2-3 minute Project Presentation Video (Follow THIS GUIDE on how to make the presentation video.)
Please Note:

Due to the Festive Season, and availability of staff and participants, we won't be hosting a live presentations webinar.
A compilation video will be circulated with Judges, and will be posted on Discord so you can all see what other teams have produced.
The video must be submitted along with your project by 2pm on Tuesday 23rd Dec to be eligible for consideration.

Wednesday, 24th Dec
  • Winners will be announced on Discord!
  • Badges issued (Only for team members that contributed for the duration of the Hackathon)

Judging Criteria
  • The project aligns well to the Hackathon theme
  • The project provides a clear and substantial value to the user
  • The project uses original or innovative idea
  • The project focus is realistic and has an overall sense of completeness.
  • The project has excellent design and layout
